"Come, Make A Difference!"

This earnest, heartfelt invitation stands at the heart of the work of the Society of Mary, the Roman Catholic order of brothers and priests known as the Marianists, who came to India with the express mission of working with and for the poorest of the poor.  In Ranchi, in the north of India, and Bangalore, in the south of India, that mission finds expression in the REDS Program, the Ragpickers Education & Development Scheme.  In Bangalore, REDS offers programs for ragpickers, women's support groups, manual training skills for youth, and the Play Schools which serve three to five year olds, the most vulnerable among those who live in Lakshumanarav Nagar and Shivaji Nagar, two of the most disadvantaged neighborhoods in Bangalore.

Now, as our response to the invitation, we have undertaken this interfaith endeavor to reach out to our sisters and brothers in India, to develop the means to support and enhance the work of REDS, in particular the work of the Play Schools.

This website echoes REDS' invitation to "Come, make a difference!"  The galleries of images seek to tell the story of life in Bangalore: its vibrancy, contradictions and contrasts.  And then, we hope that you will choose to make a difference by purchasing the Limited Edition images in the galleries, knowing that, other than the cost to produce the image, framed or unframed, the rest of your donation goes directly to a fund to supply the Play Schools with chalk, pens, paper, to provide clothing and more nutrition for the children, and to underwrite the cost of their medical care.

For a donation of just $50.00 you will receive a Limited Edition Giclee Print of your choosing or for a donation of $225.00 you will receive your Limited Edition Giclee Print framed and matted.  All of the images are numbered out of a Limited Edition of 150 images, and numbered, titled and signed by the photographer, Joshua M.K. Goocey.

Please explore the life of Bangalore.  Please see our sisters and brothers as they strive to improve their lives there.  And please "Come, make a difference!".
